Fort San Pedro
Fort San Pedro is a military defense fortification, built by the Spanish conquis tador, Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. During World War Ⅱ, under the Japanese occupation, the fort was converted into a prison camp and the base for Japanese soldiers, When Cebu was liberated by American forces in 1945, the fort served as an emergency hospital for the wounded. It then became a Philippine military army camp from 1945 to 1950.
Magellan’s Cross is a Christian cross given by Portuguese and Spanish explorers as ordered by Ferdinand Magellan upon arriving in Cebu in 1521. The original cross is reputedly encased in another wooden cross for protection, as people started chipping it away in the belief that it had miraculous healing powers.
